Structured Cabling Technician - Ottawa

About SC360 Inc.

Our Ottawa SC360 Inc. division is currently looking to add structured cabling installation technicians to the team.

Responsibilities

  • Performs the installation of structured cabling (CAT 5E, CAT 6 and others) and optical fiber according to the requirements (diagrams). infrastructure, plan and estimate time, quality etc. provided for in the contract).
  • Label cables according to defined standards.
  • Performs the necessary tests after installation and makes the necessary corrections if necessary.
  • Assist senior and lead technicians in daily service calls.
  • Follows instructions from assigned supervisor.
  • Takes on small jobs with little supervision.
  • Understands and follows a simple floor plan.
  • Answers simple questions from customers.
  • Adapts to different work environments (construction site versus lawyer’s office.

 

Requirements

 

  • Minimum 1-year cabling and/ or construction experience.
  • VALID Ontario “G” class driver’s licence.
  • Post-secondary education.
  • Ability to clear a Criminal background check.
  • Canadian Citizenship or Permanent Resident for the Security Screening Process.
  • Preferred candidates will have (or must be willing to obtain) GOVERNMENT OF CANADA SECURITY CLEARANCE – Secret clearance.

 

Additional Requirements

  • Knowledge of Belden, Panduit and Corning design products.
  • Ability to use your own vehicle every day.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the national capital region.
  • Current WHMIS.
  • Working at Heights and Fall Arrest Certification.

Experienced Structured Cabling Technician - Ottawa

Our Ottawa SC360 Inc. division is currently looking to add structured cabling installation technicians to the team.

Responsibilities

  • Performs the installation of structured cabling (CAT 5E, CAT 6 and others) and optical fiber according to the requirements (diagrams). infrastructure, plan and estimate time, quality etc. provided for in the contract).
  • Accurate reading and recording of floor plan.
  • All Category cable types and specifications; Fiber, UTP, and all termination technique: jacks, BIX, 110, DVO, modular outlets, 66 Blocks, etc…
  • Amphenol’s, splices with MR and pica bond tools; Armored burial type cables; Backbone cable installation: dressing, pulling, routing; CMP and CMR cable designations; Color codes for building field terminations; and Common safety practices.
  • Label cables according to defined standards.
  • Performs the necessary tests after installation and makes the necessary corrections if necessary.
  • Receives and completes daily work orders from service manager.
  • Ensures proper materials are being used before the start of a job or project.
  • Ensures safety procedures are maintained throughout a job or project.
  • Ensures test results are properly downloaded into the test equipment with the proper identification.

 

Requirements

 

  • 5-10 years structured cabling experience.
  • Previous work experience in the public and/or government sector.
  • VALID Ontario “G” class driver’s licence.
  • Post-secondary education.
  • Knowledge of Belden, Panduit and Corning design products.

  • Computer skills and proficiency in a Windows environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse individuals and to handle calmly and efficiently situations ranging from routine to emergency.
  • Ability to organize work and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work both independently.

  • Valid Québec driver’s license.
  • Private Security Office (BSP) License.
  • Knowledge of software related to programming of security systems.
  • Professional, trustworthy, and reliable with a strong attention to detail.
  • Computer skills and proficiency in a Windows environment.
  • Excellent communication skills including verbal and written skills. BILINGUAL FRENCH AND ENGLISH  
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse individuals and to handle calmly and efficiently situations ranging from routine to emergency.
  • Ability to organize work and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools.

  • Ability to climb and descend a ladder up to 20 feet.

  • Ability to work in confined spaces, ie: (basements, crawl spaces and attics)
